Will I lose weight?
Losing weight is extremely common with detoxification. Many times it’s just what the body needs to shed those extra 5-10 lbs. Some clients have lost as much as 20-25 lbs. When you lose toxins it’s much easier for the body to focus on weight loss. Unlike quick fix diets and extreme cleanses though, The Avalon Cleanse is designed for short-term and long-term success. New habits will be set so you can free yourself from the ups and downs of fake foods and dieting.
What makes The Avalon Cleanse different?
The Avalon Cleanse is designed for people on-the-go (with all levels of experience in cleanses). It’s set up in 3 phases so you can physiologically and emotionally transition into deeper stages of detoxing and effective weight loss. Not only does this make the process more enjoyable it makes it safer. Extreme programs can shock the system and increase irritability and major mood swings. They can also prompt the body to release toxins too quickly and put more vulnerable areas (like the brain) at risk of exposure to serious toxins such as heavy metals. Also, some programs claim you can eat anything you want if you pop a few supplements. This ignores common sense, optimal detoxification, and an opportunity for creating healthier habits. On the flip side, other programs are so restrictive that the body and mind feel deprived and undernourished often leading to fatigue and increased fat storage as soon as that cleanse is over. The Avalon Cleanse is structured toward short-term and long-term health. It combines dietary adjustments, pro-detoxing herbal and supplement steps, plus additional healing tools and relaxing rituals. Rather than being a “liver cleanse” or “colon cleanse,” The Avalon Cleanse is truly a holistic, comprehensive cleanse aimed to benefit you on all levels. The thing that countless clients have shared is that they love how the steps and strategies are customized for their specific goals and needs. They have the support they want and need rather than relying on a “detox-in-a-box” system. With The Avalon Cleanse you’ll receive an extensive packet on instructions and resources so that you can ultimately learn to do the cleanse on your own. You’ll also learn the connection between health and sustainability and how to minimize your overall toxic exposure, something rarely addressed in other programs.
Will I constantly feel hungry while I’m doing The Avalon Cleanse?
No! The program requires 3 meals a day and an afternoon snack. Deprivation is counter-productive to boosting your metabolism and being able to enjoy real health and vitality.
Will I enjoy the food?
Yes! What’s the point of cleansing without pleasure? Depending on your current diet your taste buds may need a little time to enjoy flavors beyond sweet and salty, but either way there is room to explore healthier, delicious alternatives to many of your favorite foods.
Do I have to know how to cook?
Many of my clients don’t know how to cook or feel like they don’t have the time to do so. Restaurant resources, apps, and simple recipes are all included to give you the culinary confidence you need whether at home or on-the-go. If you love to cook or are excited to learn then you will also be given the resources you need to make the most of the program and get the results you want.
Will I have to spend a lot of time preparing food?
Working with celebrities, CEOs, and soccer moms, I’ve made sure The Avalon Cleanse can accommodate the busiest of schedules. The program has the flexibility to fit your needs. So, if you want to prepare some or all of your meals and snacks, you can. If you want to eat out or buy pre-made meals and snacks, you can.
Can I eat out?
Yes! If you live in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Portland, or Austin in particular, you are especially in luck with the growing number of health restaurants. That said, I have clients living in rural communities and suburbs that have just as much success with The Avalon Cleanse as the big city dwellers. Wherever you live though, you will be given resources to find local vegetarian and vegan restaurants as well as the closest farmers’ markets and delivery programs for CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). The Avalon Cleanse is about inspiring you to try new things without feeling overwhelmed.
Will I get enough protein?
Yes! There is a huge myth that people need animal protein to survive, but plant-based options such as vegetables, fruits, meat and dairy alternatives, whole grains, nuts, and seeds are loaded with amino acids which is the direct link to protein and muscle building and muscle tone. In fact, there are top athletes (body builders, marathoners, boxers, dancers, etc.) that are strict vegans. Not only that, but did you know that the average American eats nearly twice the protein they actually need? With all the excess animal protein in our society heart disease, high cholesterol, constipation, cancer, and many other health ailments have become epidemic. What few people realize is that the body can’t store that extra protein, so it taxes the kidneys and turns it into FAT! The body can store nearly endless amounts of fat. That’s why it’s so important during The Avalon Cleanse to give the digestive tract and the rest of the body a break from heavy foods like meat and dairy. The body’s ph (something we go over during your 1st coaching) and the entire system can focus more on balancing and healing which leads to optimal detoxification and weight loss.
Will I get enough calcium?
Yes! There is a prevalent myth (that millions of advertising dollars have gone into) that tries to convince us that dairy is a supreme source of calcium. Actually, science has shown that the countries with the highest consumption of dairy (milk and cheese) have the highest rates of osteoporosis and arthritis. More is explained during The Avalon Cleanse, but for now rest assured that the best sources of calcium (and vitality) are plant-based.
Is it super expensive to buy health food?
No! It may not be cheap all the time, but when you give yourself real nutrition your body doesn’t need the mass quantities of low-nutrient food. In other words, you get more bang for your buck. Additionally, the trap most people fall into is buying over-packaged foods and beverages. Instead of spending money on more high quality nutrients you’re wasting it on plastic, cardboard, and cans. I am dedicated to teaching you how to cut corners without sacrificing your health or the health of the planet. I’m also dedicated to helping you experience the value of investing in your health through dietary choices and detoxification so that you can save money on medical costs, clothes (from fluctuating in size), beauty products and impulsive shopping (when looking for a quick, pick-me-up), and numerous other examples. Some of my favorite recipes to share are ridiculously easy and inexpensive.
What’s the difference between a store bought “detox-in-a-box” vs. The Avalon Cleanse?
Some programs claim you can eat anything you want if you pop a few supplements. This ignores common sense, optimal detoxification, and an opportunity for creating healthier habits.
Can I travel while on The Avalon Cleanse?
Many clients have business trips, weddings, vacations, and other traveling plans while cleansing. Since the program is holistic and detoxification helps to heal the body physically as well as emotionally, I recommend arranging your cleansing schedule so you are at home during the 3rd phase. The 3rd phase also includes specific dietary requirements that can be more of a challenge when you’re traveling. It’s certainly been done before, but if you have the option to be at home that’s best.
How will learning about the connection between health and sustainability benefit me?
Learning how to minimize your overall toxic exposure, something rarely addressed in other programs, will give your body less work to do in the short-term and long-term. Of course, that will also benefit other species, water sources, and air quality. Have you ever really thought about all the chemicals you’re exposed to and where they end up in your body and the rest of the world? There are over 80,000 chemicals manufactured for modern use, many of which are harmful and even classified as carcinogenic (cancer-causing.) More than 12,500 chemicals alone are used in beauty products and personal care products. A common mistake is for someone to do a cleanse while inadvertently exposing themselves to chemicals they could easily avoid. You will be given empowering information to inspire better personal and planetary health.
Is there a way to do the program without losing weight?
The vast majority of people who want to lose weight through The Avalon Cleanse do. For individuals wanting to maintain their current weight during the program customized coaching is given to ensure detoxification without weight loss.
Is it possible to do a gluten-free or soy-free version of The Avalon Cleanse?
Yes! A low-gluten or gluten-free diet is recommended for everyone during detoxification. Soy-free options are available as well. To be clear, I don’t deem gluten or soy as “bad”. I teach what nature teaches; a variety of whole foods in sensible portions with some creative strategies along the way. The problem we currently face with gluten and soy is that there are often genetically modified, non-organic, overly processed, and end up in foods you wouldn’t even expect, increasing our overall intake. Given the fact that Americans too often narrow their food choices to fake food and seriously lack variety in their diet The Avalon Cleanse creates an opportunity to break away from a monotonous diet and enjoy new flavors and a full spectrum of nutrients.
